Blue Spruce Socks
Designed by Rachel Brockman. These socks are warm, cozy, and a joy to knit. If you aren’t a fan of stranded colorwork, don’t fret! The Blue Spruce motif is achieved through slipped stitches. One color is carried at a time and only the stitches requiring the working yarn are knit—the rest are simply slipped purlwise. It requires twice as many rows, but the overall effect is very similar to the appearance of stranded knitting.

Broken Garter Scarf
Designed by Amy Gunderson. The idea of this particular stitch pattern is a concept in the book that is presented in a variety of ways. I cast on several times with different combinations of knit and purl columns until I finally settled on one that felt right. It’s dead simple – it’s a one row repeat!
SIZE: One. FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Width: 8¾”, Length: 61”
MATERIALS: Universal Yarn Deluxe Worsted Superwash (100% superwash wool; 100g/220 yds) • 756 Channel & 749 Smoke Heather (B) – 1 ball each

PATTERN NOTES: Garter stitch can be more interesting than you think! By alternating knit and purl versions of garter stitch in two colors, a fascinating pattern develops. With a 1-row pattern repeat, this scarf is excellent mindless knitting and a great beginner project.
