Berroco #409, Providence

Bridgham

This fun and colorful hat knitting pattern, with matching gloves, is worked with three colors of Berroco Providence! Colors and tweed make for a delightful pairing in colorwork projects. Colorwork pattern is charted.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Hat:  Approximately 20" around x 10" high; Gloves:  Approximately 8" around hand x 10" long (length is adjustable)

YARN: BERROCO PROVIDENCE (50 grs):  1 ball each #1105 Federal Hill (MC), #1116 Atlantic (CC1) and #1115 Rosecliff (CC2) for Hat. 1 ball each for Gloves. 
Note:  If making both Hat and Gloves, buy 2 balls MC and 1 ball each CC1 and CC2.

NEEDLES and NOTIONS: For Hat: 16" circular needle, size 4 (3.50 mm); For Hat & Gloves: 1 set double-pointed needles, size 4 (3.50 mm) or size to obtain gauge; Stitch markers; Tapestry needle
Chapin

Cables and texture form the body and sleeves of this pullover knitting pattern. Worked from the bottom up with saddle shoulders, this sweater pattern is nearly seamless. Cable pattern is charted.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Bust: 34½ (38¼, 41¾, 46½, 50¼, 53¾, 58½, 62¼)“; Length: 22 (22½, 23, 23½, 24, 24½, 25, 25½)”; Shown in size 38¼“. Recommended ease: 2–4” positive ease.

YARN: BERROCO PROVIDENCE (50 grs): 8 (9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15) balls #1119 Water Fire

NEEDLES and NOTIONS: 16” and 29” circular needles, size 5 (3.75 mm) or size to obtain gauge; 1 set each double-pointed needles, sizes 3 (3.25 mm) and 5 (3.75 mm); Stitch markers (1 a different color for beg-of-rnd); Cable needle (cn); Waste yarn for tubular cast-on and to hold stitches


Claverick

Claverick is the perfect fall cardigan—a deep V-neck cardigan knitting pattern with pockets and easy knitting! Simple shaping creates slant pockets in the body, and the sleeves are joined with raglan shaping. Sleeves of this garment are worked in the round to underarms. Body is worked flat in one piece to underarms, then all pieces are joined to work yoke in one piece. Front bands are worked separately, then sewn on.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Bust (closed): 32 (36, 40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60)“ including button band; Length: 23¼ (23¾, 24¼, 25¼, 25, 25½, 25¾, 26¼)”; Shown in size 32”. Recommended ease: 2–4”.

Elmhurst

A basic sweater knitting pattern, made with a tweedy yarn, is the perfect wardrobe staple for cooler weather. Elmhurst is a bottom-up seamless sweater with simple rib detailing along the raglan sleeve lines.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Bust: 32 (36, 40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60)“; Length: 22 (22, 23, 23, 23, 23½, 24, 24)”; Shown in size 36”. Recommended ease: 2–4” of positive ease.

YARN: BERROCO PROVIDENCE (50 grs): 5 (5, 6, 7, 7, 8, 8, 9) balls #1126 Riverwalk (please note this color was incorrectly identified in the pattern booklet at 1116 Atlantic, Riverwalk is the correct color)

NEEDLES and NOTIONS:  16” and 29” circular needles, sizes 3 (3.25 mm) and 4 (3.50 mm) or size to obtain gauge; 1 set each double-pointed needles, sizes 3 (3.25 mm) and 4 (3.50 mm); 8 stitch markers (1 a different color for beg-of-round); Small amount of waste yarn to hold stitches


Olneyville

Two strands of Berroco Providence are held together to create a color-shifting poncho, plus garter stitch and simple intarsia make for easy colorblocking.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:Approximately 24 (25¾, 27½)“ across and 24 (25¾, 27½)” long (after seaming); 24 (25¾, 27½)“ across and 48 (49, 51)” long before seaming; Shown in 24” size.

YARN: BERROCO PROVIDENCE (50 grs): 5 (5, 6) balls #1106 Roger Williams (MC); 2 balls each (for all sizes) #1125 River Walk (CC1) and #1130 Cliffwalk (CC2)

NEEDLES and NOTIONS: 24” (or longer) circular needle, size 9 (5.50 mm) or size to obtain gauge; 2 removable stitch markers or safety pins; Tapestry needle


 Vinton

An easy textured stitch pairs with a tweedy yarn for a classic scarf knitting pattern edged with fringe.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Approximately 14” wide x 66” long (not including fringe)

YARN: BERROCO PROVIDENCE (50 grs): 5 balls #1121 Lincoln Woods

NEEDLES and NOTIONS: Knitting needles, size 8 (5.00 mm) or size to obtain gauge; Crochet hook, size 5.00 mm (F), for fringe; 2 stitch markers
