Alexandra Davidoff Patterns

Luna

A lovely and incredibly soft hat. Luna is a word of Latin origin meaning Moon.

The hat begins with twisted ribbing, highly defined cable pattern in the middle and an eight-petal flower for the crown. It is designed for kidsilk mohair & fingering weight yarns held together. The mohair creates a halo around every stitch, making this hat soft and warm with a misty glow - just like the moon light.

Pattern is 4 pages long with written instructions and chart. The hat is worked with two yarns held together from beginning to end.

Inspiration
I Am Dragon III is the third design in I Am Dragon trilogy. The inspirations for the this one and the previous two designs came from J.R.R.Tolkien books, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings films and, of course, Game of Thrones. I’ve been alway fascinated with dragon legends and imagery. So, if you have similar interests - this is the project for you!

About the backdrop for this design. This is an engraving “The story of Daniel, Bel and the Dragon” by Maarten van Heemskerck, 1565. It perfectly reflects the mood of this KAL and I am simply obsessed with it!

Shape
It is a triangular shape shawl. The knitting starts at the bottom. Keep in mind that blocking plays an important role, so your piece will get into it’s final shape after the blocking is complete.

Yarn
Chose a 3-skein fade combination of sock yarn. For each dragon you will need 3 full skeins, each between 400m/437 yards.

Needles
US2.5 (3.00mm) & US1 (2.25mm) ChiaoGoo 40”(102cm) circular needles. Stitches should be firm, not loose. Adjust needle size if needed.

Notions
Approx. 35g of Miyuki Glass beads size 6/0, row counter to keep you on track, 26 stitch markers, a tapestry needle and two large wooden beads for PomTassels

Skill Level
The skill level is Intermediate. You should be comfortable with stitch increases and decreases and yarn overs.
