Fisson Knitting: Marled & Reversible Scarf, Cowl or Hat



Fission Knitting is a reversible colourwork technique where the fabric is worked with yarns held in a marl. The designs elements are slipped stitches placed on both sides of the fabric. The marl is broken apart to work these stitches.

The resultant fabric has a marled middle layer and overlaid design on each side. It is possible create a different cabled design on each side of the fabric.


You will need:
  • Pattern of choice by Mary W Martin, to be approved by instructor and purchased in-store. There are many patterns to choose from in her Fission collection, or her new design in the new Vogue Knitting available here.
  • Yarn required for pattern (students get 20% off when purchased in store)
  • Needle required to achieve gauge according to pattern
  • Notions per pattern like stitch markers may be required

 


Skill Level: Intermediate
Skill Details: Must be able to CO, BO, K, P; see and fix basic mistakes such as dropped sts is a plus. We will learn chart reading, traveling sts/cables and working with 2 yarns at once.
Materials Included: none
Requirements: You will need to get pattern approval and purchase pattern from shop. This could also be the one in the new Vogue Knitting Mag. Fall 2021.
